Manchester United have made West Ham’s Declan Rice their top target for next summer, but he may be brought to the club as soon as January claims Goal.com.

The 20-year-old  Hammer has now been installed at the top of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s transfer shortlist claims the report.

The article goes on to say that Rice would cost around £80 million and Manchester United  are prepared to back Solskjaer financially despite an inconsistent start to the current season.

The report has since been repeated the Sun and Daily Mirror newspapers citing Goal.com.

The club’s position hasn’t changed, their star player is not for sell, they have have received no serious enquires or bids to date and would reject them should they arrive.

Last month Rice dismissed speculation linking him with a £70m move by saying

“I signed a five year contract with West Ham last year, which will keep me at club till I’m 24, and for me this is the best place to be right now. I am playing for a manager who has given me my chance and played me week in week out.

“I’m improving every week and although I see all this speculation, I don’t really think about it too much.

“It’s all talk until something happens – and nothing has – so I’m just focussed on West Ham, doing my best and making fans happy.”
