Fresh Lingard twist

The Daily Mirror reports that Jesse Lingard has three clubs fighting for his signature, and West Ham aren’t one of them.

They claim that the Hammers made an offer to sign the attacking midfielder on a free transfer after his exit from Manchester United, but that bid has fallen short of his expectations when it comes to wages.

As a result, it has opened the door for interest from elsewhere, with Spurs, Everton, and Newcastle all said to be hopeful of signing the England international.

Spurs held talks with Lingard’s representatives in January regarding a summer move, and Antonio Conte is said to be an admirer of the player.

Spurs also signed Richarlison for £60m last week, giving the Toffees some cash to spend in the transfer market, and allowing Frank Lampard to consider a move for Lingard.

Newcastle are also said to be weighing up a move and they could more than match Lingard’s wage demands given their Saudi backing.

Italian duo AC Milan and Roma are also watching developments, and it remains to be seen if the Irons will attempt to convince Lingard to come back to east London.
