Frustrated Lingard sends message

Frustrated and disappointed Jesse Lingard sent a rallying pick yourselves up to the dressing room after a defeat which puts our Euro hopes very much in the balance.

Like the rest of the team the Manchester United loanee couldn’t find a way through a mass Everton defence who decided to park the bus after grabbing the lead.

They had their moments on the front foot but the Hammers inability to get any sort of reward for their offensive second period in particular was down to defensive organisation.

West Ham’s best chance fell to Said Benrahma before half-time, but he headed Pablo Fornals’ inviting cross over the bar from six yards, leaving West Ham trailing and the Algerian still seeking his first goal in a West Ham shirt.

And afterwards a crestfallen Lingard described the huge disappointment among the squad but insisted that they really do have to go again over the next three games.

And afterwards Lingard commented to www.whufc.com: “It was frustrating as we dominated the game and it was a sloppy goal to concede “We had them on the back foot in the second half, but we didn’t really create any chances.

“The dressing room was down after the game. Everyone’s disappointed but we need to pick ourselves up because we’ve got another big game next weekend.

“For us as a team we’re together and trying to help each other to score and get into the right positions.

“It’s just about focusing, concentrating and not being sloppy. We need to have the right attitude going into the games so we can start quickly and start on the front foot and win those matches.”
