“Going nowhere” Oxford gets call from Austria

Reece Oxford has flown straight from his England under 19 adventure to Austria where has linked up with the Irons squad.

And that really is good news from every perspective with the regular rumours surrounding his future.

ClaretandHugh has been assured again this morning (Tues)  that media reports claiming there has been an £18 million offer from Manchester City are rubbish and that the club will start negotiating a new deal with the player soon.

We were told by our top insider: “There has been no offer at all, nor would we welcome one. Reece Oxford is seen as a big player in this club’s future.”

However, it’s mportant  the player is made to feel a big part of Slav’s plans and the decision to call him out to the Austrian training camp suggests he could be included in the Europa Cup clash against NK Domzale at Stadion Stozice on Thursday evening.

Reece – fresh from helping England reach the semi-finals of the UEFA U19 Championships, qualifying for next summer’s FIFA U20 World Cup in the process – will be ready for action and we hope he gets a call-up.

The Hammers are coming towards the end of a ten-day training camp in the central European country and today will see their final training session before heading over the border to Ljubljana for Thursday’s game against NK Domzale at Stadion Stozice.
