Gold breaks silence on Payet sale

He then confirmed a sell on clause which is believed to be 25% by saying: “There is a sell on provision. dg”

Defending the decision of the board to sell their star player Gold said: “We don’t want to sell DP but we had no option after he publicly declared that he didn’t want to play for WH dg” & “The decision to allow Payet to leave was in accordance with the wishes of the manager and the interests of squad unity. dg”

He later replied to Talksport radio presenter Andy Goldstein asked: “Why do owners (not just u) say a player “Won’t be sold” before selling him?”

Gold replied:“We genuinely didn’t want to sell DP and hoped to resolve his issues but slowly things got worse culminating with him refusing to play. dg”

Gold then told his 171,000 followers: “West Ham UNITED Football club is stronger today than it was yesterday. dg”
