West Ham chairman David Gold believes the club have a better than 50/50 chance of appealing Kouyate’s red card and subsequent one match ban for a professional foul. Gold insisted that the Blackburn player wasn’t going to get the ball so it wasn’t a goal scoring opportunity.

Gold tweeted “I think we have a very good case better than 50-50. The Blackburn player wasn’t going to get the ball anyway so he wasn’t denied a goal scoring opportunity. dg”

The appeal will be heard by a three-person independent regulatory commission will be convened to assess written evidence from the match officials and West Ham, as well as video footage of the incident.

The so called ‘FA three wise man’ usually include a former football man often a former player/manager, a former member of a FA association sometimes a previous chairman and a person with a legal background who understands the rules of football.
