David Gold has slapped down accusations that he and David Sullivan are influencing Slaven Bilic’s team selections.

The co chairman has been quiet on Twitter recently but was moved to respond when he and his co chairman were told that they have left the manager “powerless.”

One supporter  accused Gold of interfering with the Croat’s selections, saying: “Name me one youth player who has broken through to the first team since [Gold and Sullivan] took over? Bilic is powerless. It starts from up top.”

The accusation didn’t stack up because Declan Rice has been involved the squad since the start of the season and Blic regiuarly takes youngsters from the Under 23s from Chadwell Hath to Rush Green to training.

However, faced with the charge Gold then responded: “We have our opinions but we do not influence team selection.”
