West Ham Joint Chairman David Gold has seen the funny side of his social media gaff when he posted the photo of the wrong player while Tweeting about Issa Diop.   The 85-yar-old Hammers co-owner posted “Issa Diop was delighted to mark his 100th appearance for West Ham United with another fantastic performance in Wednesday’s Carabao Cup fourth-round win over Manchester City. Well done Issa”

The photo was that of Xande Silva but Gold quickly realised his mistake and deleted the post.  He made fun of himself reposting the right photo and saying ‘I Should have gone to Specsavers’

Xande Silva left West Ham to join Nottingham Forest in August for a nominal fee.

Gold previously mixed up Pedro Obiang and Angelo Ogbonna in 2015 on Twitter much to his embarrassment quickly corrected his mistake and has been duped a number of times on Twitter by followers.

In 2016 he wished  Winston Reid a happy birthday with a photo of West Ham youth player Kyle Knoyle, who has recently signed for Wigan Athletic on a season-long loan. Later that year he was tricked into reposting a missing person photo of Michail Antonio as well as replying to a photo of Will from TV comedy The Inbetweeners after being tricked into thinking he was a real schoolboy.
