Gold tweets a message to Trump

David Gold has whipped up a storm of reaction on Twitter and the issue has absolutely nothing to do with football.

Instead the co chairman has stepped into a political minefield by making his feelings known on the attempts of Donald Trump to become President of the United States.

It’s a topic that gets everybody at it but it’s unusual for DG to throw off his usual diplomatic approach to things and speak so frankly.

Trump has whipped up a storm of approval and hatred as his presidential campaign has rolled across America amid accusation and counter accusation.

But Gold made his own position very clear when a follower said that she liked Trump.

Gold tweeted:”You’re not alone, lots of people like Donald Trump. Millions of people liked Adolf Hitler and lived to regret it. dg

Thevast majority agreed with the chairman’s view with one adding wryly: “A lot of people have liked West Ham and lived to regret it.”
