Gomez responds to Liverpool and Barcelona interest

West Ham transfer target Maxi Gomez has admitted he regularly reads social media rumours linking him to a move to Liverpool, Spurs or Barcelona in addition to West Ham.

Gomez told local press: “There are many comments through social networks, what if I sign for Barcelona, if I go to Liverpool…I am very calm and in Vigo I feel very comfortable,” 

The 22-year-old has shined for Celta Vigo since arriving from Defensor Sporting in 2017, scoring 17 goals in his first season.

This season, Gomez has scored 13 goals and five assists in a Celta side who are fighting relegation and added to his goal tally last night with a goal against Barcelona.

The striker is said to have a release clause of £42m but that reduces to £22 if Celta Vigo is relegated.

Gomez is thought to remain West Ham number one transfer target this summer so they will not welcome competition from Liverpool, Spurs and Barcelona.
