MANCHESTER CITY have sent Aymeric Laporte and Fernandinho for scans which could see Pep Guardiola’s team face us without SIX centre-back options this Sunday.

Both players were forced off in Wednesday evening’s impressive 5-1 demolition at Wolves, which basically guaranteed Irons will again be playing European football in some capacity next season.

City are concerned Laporte has injured medial ligaments, while 37-year-old midfielder, turned emergency centre-back, Fernandinho, has a tight hamstring.

Nathan Ake replaced the Brazilian late on at Molineux, but he is also struggling with a muscle injury. To compound Pep Guardiola’s defensive misery, Ruben Dias, John Stones and Kyle Walker are already ruled out for the remainder of the season.

Even City, with their vast resources, are down to the bare bones at the back and that could see midfielder Rodri forced to play further back, which will obviously impact his influence in their engine room.

City know a win at the London Stadium will virtually guarantee a fourth Premier League title in five years, but Moysie will be fancying our chances even with the brilliant Kevin De Bruyne pulling the strings for them.

City have teenage defenders Luke Mbete and CJ Egan-Riley on stand-by.
