West Ham could not have made an impressive return to Europe over the first 45 minutes and deserved more than the single goal l.

It came via the sloppiest back pass you will ever see which had Mickey Antonio leaping to intercept and score with ease.

Our dominance was quite extraordinary and Ryan Fredericks almost made it two with a great run and shot from close in soon afterwards but the  keeper did really well to smother.

The right back was having a great game as a replacement for Coufal, attacking with purpose and defending well as Zouma made his debut alongside Diop in the centre of defence.

They were rarely troubled but the Croatians really had their work cut out dealing with the probing of our midfield and the burly Antonio – a striker they would rarely have seen the likes of in their league.

Manu Lanzini – making a long awaited return – took an undeserved yellow for a challenge which saw him win the ball and was fouled himself.

The little Argentine was chasing and harrying like rarely before as he made his bid to impress the manager.

And hew boy Vlasic was always looking to attack and close to half rime fired in a shot which was narrowly wide.

It was all very impressive  – looking forward to the second half and some more goals.
