Explained: Why Seb doesn’t do the celebration thing

Hammer Sebastian Haller has been accused of not celebrating goals but West Ham supporters need to understand this is nothing new and has always been his thing.

His former coach at Frankfurt, Niko Kovac nicknamed the ‘Cool bird’, in Germany says he cut a calm figure on the pitch hardly showing any emotion.

Haller has only knowingly let his emotions get the better of him once after scoring a penalty. After the game he said ‘The time I was that emotional, maybe it was with my daughter but I don’t really like to show it, even if I am thinking about a lot things, I try to stay cool’

So there you have it from the man himself, he is not grumpy, disinterested or homesick. It prefers to stay unemotional and be a cool bird.

As Hugh said in a piece yesterday Haller’s attitude is actually a breath of fresh air tosomeof us who find choreographed celebrations on the pitch often infantile at best.
