West Ham’s New head of medical Gary Lewin has already been hard at work for four weeks to prepare for the coming season. Lewin started work at Rush Green a few days after the announcement of his appointment on 30 May.

Pedro Obiang, Sam Byram and Angelo Ogbonna all returned early to the training ground to work with Lewin giving up some of their holiday time to work on their fitness as part of their rehabilitation from injury.

Mark Noble also returned for a couple of days in his holidays to work on his rehabilitation following his hernia operation. Michail Antonio even took a physio with him to Las Vegas during his stag do to carry on with his recovery following an operation.

Lewin’s complete medical team are expected to make the trip to Austria next Monday for the first leg of the Hammers European pre-season training tour and all first team squad players no matter what their state of fitness are expected to fly off to Bad Tatzmannsdorf in Austria
