Derby County 0 West Ham 2

By Hughie Southon

West Ham cruised into a fifth round clash against m Manchester United at Old Trafford with a convincing victory over a lack lustre Derby County.

Goals from Jarrod Bowen and Mikey Antonio  set them on their way to a last 16 spot as they completed their third win in four games.

Bpwen = Goal and assist

Bowen clipped home the first following a great move and a headed assist from Soucek before the No 20 provided the cross for a simple second headed strike from Antonio.

The Hammers had made six changes from the team that beat Everton and were always the more threatening pf the two teams – as of course should have been the case against the League One side.

Antonio led the line particularly well and with Bowen always causing issues alongside enjoyed one of his best games in a while.

Soucek too was in decent form alongside Downes in midfield and Fornals looked like a player who should find a place in the Premier League team.

Manager David Moyes will have no complaints at the manner of the victory although County had their moments when Collins lifted a volley high and wide and Dobbin fired into Areola’s arms late on.

So Newcastle next with the Hammers confidence hopefully rising as they look to climb the Premier League and away from trouble.

It will of course be a far trickier game than this at St James’ Park but things are looking a little better for the Irons right now.

This was indeed a very routine victory!
