Lyon turned down an offer of £43m for Alexandre Lacazette from West Ham this summer, according to Lyon’s owner.

Sky Sports’ Journalist Kaveh Solhekol posted on his personal Twitter account today that Lyon’s owner Jean-Michael Aulas told French channel SFR Sport he had personally turned down the offer from the Hammers.

“Lyon owner Jean-Michel Aulas tells French TV station SFR he turned down €50m (£43m) offer from West Ham for Alexandre Lacazette this summer” tweeted Solhekol on social media.

However, maybe the Hammers dodged a massive bullet after Lacazette suffered a serious knee injury in a 4-2 away defeat for Lyon against Dijon over the weekend. The 25 year old has since withdrawn from the French squad for upcoming matches against Italy and Belarus and is likely to be out of action for at least three months due to the injury.

Early in August, Lacazette limped out of Lyon’s heavy defeat to Paris St-Germain with a hip injury in the French version of the Community Shield. Despite this handicap the striker has still managed to score six goals from just three league appearances.
