West Ham have confirmed that bids for  Cologne striker Anthony Modeste (right) and the Villarreal forward Cedric Bakambu have been rejected.

Telegraph Sport reported last night that we had made  offers of 25 million euros (£22million) for each of the two forward players which is more than they they paid to sign Andre Ayew from Swansea City last summer.

And our top source made it clear this morning that it was true both bids had been made and rejected by the two clubs declaring: “Yes both bids have been turned down at this stage but we continue to monitor all our targets.”

Modeste is a powerful striker who scored 25 goals in the Bundesliga last season, but Cologne are believed to be demanding more than £35million for the player even though he is 29.  campaign in Spain with Villarreal.

Bakambu scored 22 goals last season and is a quick and powerful forward player who can also play as a winger having also played in Turkey.

Villarreal value him between £25m and £30m
