West Ham is considering a move for Leicester City defender Yohan Benalouane, according to Foot Mercato.

The former France under-21 man is not a guaranteed starter for the King Power Stadium side however, with Wes Morgan and Robert Huth at the centre of their defence.

Benalouane waited twenty months to make his full league debut he has had to be very patient. The French Tunisian defender has made just four league appearances for Leicester City since joining from Italian side Atalanta in August, 2015, but all were substitute appearances.

His only other games have come in the cup competitions when City have made wholesale changes, and the 29-year-old even had a stint as captain of the Development squad to give him some much-needed pitch time.

Benalouane finally stepped in for injured skipper Wes Morgan  to help Leicester to their first away league win of the season, at West Ham.

Benalouane said it was great to be back playing again and admitted it had been a testing time.  “I have had to be patient, which has been difficult,” he said after the 3-2 win at the London Stadium.

“I love my work, you know. For me when I don’t play it is difficult but when I play I am very happy.”
