West Ham are mulling over giving young Nigerian forward Ayo Faniyan a contract after a lengthy trial according to Allnigeriasoccer.com
The 18-year-old has been training with The Hammers Academy for more than eight weeks now with a view to signing a contract in the coming weeks. The player is a free agent since September 2018 after mutually terminating his contract with Reading. He is described as being a ‘strong, quick and powerful striker’ who can also play out wide, although Reading’s official website describes him as a midfielder. Faniyan was born in Nigeria – the country to which he has committed his international future – but moved to England aged five, according to All Nigeria Soccer signing a contract with Reading on 1st July 2016.

Competition in the Academy is fierce for attacking roles and West Ham is said to want to make sure Ayo is the right player before offering him his first West Ham contract.
