Hammers ‘dead wood’ losses – an analysis

West Ham’s efforts to rid themselves of what is often described as ‘dead wood’ will come at a price!

But should they do so, their losses in a Covid 19 market not be as high as many might expect despite the fact we are regularly being told this is a going to be a  ‘flat transfer window.’

Currently – apart from Albian Ajeti – there have been no bids for any of the squad but, with the bulk of business being done towards deadline day, that is no surprise and at this stage not necessarily unduly worrying.

In the meantime, it’s interesting to hazard some sort of guess at what the probably out of favour players could attract given how much we paid for them .

It’s far too hot to get into rows LOL but take a look and give us your opinions.

Masuaku – bought for £6m …likely departure price £5 million

Ajeti –  £8 million … £5 million

Lanzini – £11 million – £13 million

Anderson – £34 million – £25 million

Fredericks – free signing – £7 million

Balbuena – £4 million – £4 million

Yarmolenko – £18 million – £7 million

Total purchase price: £81 million

Possible selling price: £66 million

Loss £15 million

NB: We didn’t include Jack Wilshere as realistically we can see no club ready to pay him the £100k a week wages he currently commands based on  his injury track record.
