Hammers defender refuses to panic

Aaron Creswell is deeply upset by the current form of the Hammers squad and as is usually the case in these situations determined to put things right.

The Irons had been hoping to build on the European  Conference play off victory over Viborg on Thursday evening against Brighton and Hove Albion but were well second best to the south coast outfit in the 0-2 defeat at the London Stadium

“It’s very disappointing,” Cresswell remarked . “We know man-to-man it is not good enough at the minute. 

“It’s a crucial time to get their [first] goal, but we’ve got to react. It’s the same with the second goal: it’s sloppy.”

David Moyes’ men travel to Denmark to face Viborg in the second leg on Thursday 25 August, before a trip to Villa Park in the Premier League on Sunday 28 August.

The Hammers have the chance to secure their qualification for the group stage and also pick up their first points of the Premier League season in their next two fixtures.

And Cresswell is adamant the Hammers can return to form swiftly.

“We’ve been on a fantastic run the last few years, so [a poor run of form is] something that we’re not used to,” the Hammers No3 said.

He added: “But we need to pick it up, and put this right as soon as possible. We’ve got to stick together and look forward to the next game.

“There’s still a long way to go. There’s no panic stations. It’s not the start we wanted, but we’ve got to put that right. 

“As a team, we have to stay positive.”
