West Ham are watching anxiously as Chelsea are reported to be in their opening moves to take Robert Lewandowski to Stamford Bridge.

It seems that Diego Costa’s Blues days are very much behind him with Antonio Conte deciding that the Spaniard can leave south west London.

But a lack of movement in the market has inhibited the Hammers hopes of clinching a deal for Belgian international Michy Batshuyai who is unsettled at the club after a season on the sidelines last term.

Now however, the dominoes may be about to topple with Lewandowski reported to be a serious Blues target although Romelu Lukaku is also believed to be in Chelsea’s sights.

Hammers insiders have made it clear that Batshuyai is at the top of their target list either as a permanent signing or on loan.

And we were told: “It genuinely is a waiting game. We are keen to get into talks and are watching all developments here and at the other clubs where we are interested in players and are ready to move. It’s encouraging if thing are moving at Chelsea”
