Hammers eye strikers amid Sakho exit worries

West Ham are watching a number of strikers ahead of the January transfer window fearing that “unpredictable” Diafra Sakho will again push for a move.

The Hammers striker will see duty with the Senegal international team this evening as he returns to form  with the Irons but the club know there are no guarantees he won’t push for another move in the winter window.

French outfit Rennes remain keen after offering West Ham €9 million euros in the summer –  short of a fee the manager was  ready to accept ahead of the ill-fated medical before the striker returned to the London Stadium.

Sakho has looked in good nick since then but the front man is valued at a minimum of €14m and Rennes will have to dig deep by their standards to land the player.

We were told: “We’d love to hold onto him but there are no guarantees and we shall need to see how things pan out during the next window.

“We are keeping our eyes peeled for strikers and should Sakho depart we would hope to replace him although we could gamble until the end of the season on Chicharito, Carroll and Ayew with Antonio as back up.
