Hammers face anxious FA wait on Ajeti card
West Ham are fearful the FA could over rule the VAR red card decision given in favour of Albian Ajeti towards the end of yesterday’s 1-1 draw with Everton.
The Switzerland striker appeared as a late sub again near the end and looked a man on a mission to show David Moyes he can be the answer to some of his problems up front.
He was very lively and heavily involved as the Hammers chased hard to grab three points showing far more than he has done in his previous cameo appearances.
But he was caught up in an off the ball incident with Mason Holgate in which it appeared the striker had pushed his head back towards the face of the Everton defender.
The 23-year-old fell to the floor leading to referee Andre Marriner stopping the game, with Pablo Zabaleta angrily confronting the official and Holgate after the incident.
However, after calling in VAR a red card penalty was avoided with “no violent conduct” involved be given which to be honest surprised many looking at TV replays.
A Hammers insider revealed to us by e mail that the club remained fearful the decision could be changed by the Football Association revealing the ruling body had until 6pm on Tuesday to make up their minds.
Should they do so a three match ban would almost inevitably follow.
