Hammers fury over Magnusson

West Ham insiders are privately seething at Eggert Magnusson’s intervention in the London Stadium debate.

The former chairman decided to tell the world the stadium should be torn down and rebuilt in an interview with the Sun and claimed that money had been poured down the toilet.

The Icelandic knows all about that subject of course as he proved very adequately when running West Ham and his comments have come in for scorn from all associated with the club.

One – who preferred to remain anonymous – told us this morning: “He managed to leave the club £110m in debt and virtually bankrupt and I think it’s unlikely he has attended a game at the new stadium.

Ok, it’s not perfect but many supporters love the new stadium. Eggert’s comments don’t help.  It just keeps a difficult situation rolling along at a time when everybody is doing their best to sort out the issues.”
