Mark Noble’s hopes of making the crucial clash with Spurs next Saturday have risen over the last few days.

The inspirational skipper – having turned his ankle in the last defeat at Burnley early in the first half – is reported to be making progress and is expected to be on the bench for the game at the London Stadium.

His absence could leave the Irons with a tricky dilemma with Manu Pellegrni being forced to make a tricky decision on whom to throw in as Declan Rice’s partner at defensive midfield.

That certainly isn’t a job for Robert Snodgrass whose strength is in getting forward and should the skipper not make it, the manager will seemingly be left with the choice of Carlos Sanchez or Jack Wilshere.

However, the latest news on Nobes is encouraging and a well placed source delivered the encouraging report: ” He’s doing ok and its looking 6-40 on him making the bench along with Michail Antonio.
