West Ham U23’s got off to flying start in the Premier League 2 Division 2 by beating Fulham 3-0 to go second in the table just behind Manchester United on goal difference.

Dan Kemp, Alfie Lewis and Oladapo Afolayan were on the scoresheet for Dmitri Halajko’s side as they continued their excellent pre-season form.

Ben Johnson also played the full 90 minutes telling WHUFC.com “I think the opposition was fairly tough, but I think we’re going to come up against better sides,  with Dmitri coming in, and the likes of [coach Steve] Pottsy and Ricky Martin helping us, and all the other staff, we’ve really hit the ground running in pre-season. In the first game of the season, to get three points is a delight.”

“Everyone’s currently fit in the first team, and I’ve got to play games. Whoever I’m playing for – U23s, U18s, first team – I’ve got to give it my all, and do my best in training. I think coming back here is a good way to show that I should be pushing for that level continually this season.”

The U23s travel to Newcastle next weekend as their PL2 Division 2 campaign continues.
