West Ham’s discovery of their Slavia Prage goldmine was confirmed again last night as the Czech Republic outfit strode past Rangers and into the last eight of the Europa League competition.

And it was greeted immediately with a tweet from Hammers right back Vlad Coufal who declared:  “Who will be next? @slaviaofficial Congratulations guys … you got them beautifully.”

In a stormy game which as disfigured by two Rangers sending off and a race row the reality of the game was that the Czechs were far too gopd for Steve Gerrard’s outfit having been held to a draw at home.

The home side also have Kemar Roofe and Leon Balogun sent off in second half wioth Roofe claiming he had been racially abused.

Beyond the controversy however was another demonstration that the Irons – with a very close link to the Czech club via the signings of Vlad and Tomas – could benefit greatly in the future with suggestions of the two outfits making more formal ties.

Striker Abdallah Sima was not on the scoresheet last night but remains a target for the Irons.
