West Ham will not be competing with Crystal Palace for £7 million rated hot goals prospect Jack Marriott.

The Irons have been linked with a move for the player but Posh director of football Barry Fry denies any interest from manager David Moyes.

Marriott has grabbed 24 goals in 39 appearances for the Division One side and is attracting interest from a host of clubs – notably Crystal Palace.

Recent reports claimed that the south London club and ourselves are regularly watching the 23 year old and will be in with an offer but Fry – a close friend of David Sullivan and David Gold – denies any interest from the Hammers.

He said: “I have watched the Hammers games against Stoke and West Brom from the director’ box and the team is doing really well under David Moyes.

However, whilst I have a load of interest in Jack, the Hammers do not believe he is what they need at the moment and are concentrating on players with a lot of experience and have been there and done it.”
