Hammers have to rethink one target

West Ham are going to have to rethink their pursuit of Joe Worrall this summer after Nottingham Forest secured their promotion to the Premier League.

The Hammers were interested in a swoop to sign the Forest captain in the upcoming transfer window, with David Moyes sending scouts to run the rule over the centre-back.

However, Worrall helped his side beat Huddersfield Town in the play-off final at Wembley and seal a return to the top-flight for the first time since the 1990s.

It has since been communicated to the Hammers that Worrall is likely to stay at Forest and lead them into the big time next season.

There have been a number of clubs monitoring Worrall, but Forest’s promotion seems to have scotched any chance of him leaving.

The Hammers may choose to make a bid for the 25-year-old to test Forest’s resolve but they are now under no pressure to sell, after receiving the financial bonanza of promotion.

The Irons are instead likely to focus on Rennes’ Nayef Aguerd.
