Hammers have two bids turned down

West Ham have seen two firm bids turned down already in the transfer window.

With David Moyes determined to bring in an energetic midfielder – of even two – the Hammers went in with bids of £5 million for Bournemouth’s Harry Arter and Stoke City’s Joe Allen.

They were turned down flat by both relegation threatened clubs who told them that their attentions were unwelcome and that they need not try again.

Arter as always the No 1 choice but with the Cherries involved in a relegation scrap and manager-less Stoke fighting for their lives it appears impossible for any deal to be sorted out.

Moyes has made it clear regularly in the past that he would sooner buy Premier proven players but ClaretandHugh has established that Jonjo Shelvey is not an option for him.

The manager has made it clear regularly that whilst he wants to being in to or three additions there are no guarantees.

And a source told ClaretandHugh: “It’s an incredibly hard window in which to do business with clubs at both ends of the table having good reason to hold onto their better players.”
