Hammers head for Man City clash

The Hammers are 24 hours away from the key pre-season match of the summer against Manchester City and the big question whether we are set for serious action or another training affair.

There are mixed feelings about games at this time of the year but we would hope to see as close to the first team running out as possible.

That should give us some sort of idea of where we are against a City team that has as usual spent a fortune in the transfer market this summer.

If we had to pick out the most impressive players this summer we would plump for Zabaleta, Arneutovic, Masuaku and Lanzini ahead of his injury

We understand that neither Lanzini or Sakho will be in the frame for the match but that there’s a chance of Mark Noble returning.

So as we head into tomorrow’s match here’s the team we’d like to see take the pitch in Reikjavic but once again the first question asked after the game will be whether there are any injuries rather than who won.

With Winston Reid suspended after his sending off against Altonoa 93 here’s our starting X1: Hart; Zabaleta, Collins Ogbonna, Masuaku; Rice, Noble, Obiang, Arneutovic, Ayew and Hernandez.

The game kicks off at 3pm BST at the Laugardalsvollur Stadium and will televised on Eurosport 1, and via the Eurosport Player.

Live coverage gets underway from 2.50pm BST.
