Hammers heartbreak

West Ham’s hearts were broken in the 93rd minute by Marcus Rashford as Manchester United stole a victory at Old Trafford.

United leapfrog the Irons into fourth place as a result, as they won the game in the very final second on Saturday.

The game was actually devoid of any sort of incident in the first half but the second saw the two clubs really go for it.

West Ham had a huge chance to win the game in the 86th minute, as Tomas Soucek met a corner, but his header went wide of the far post.

Jarrod Bowen also went close in the second half, firing a volley into the side netting, but it was a performance from the Hammers that was more grit than anything else, standing up to their opponents as they repeatedly repelled attacks.

At the end of the game, though, Cristiano Ronaldo fed Edinson Cavani, who sprinted down the channel on the left flank, and he cut the ball back for Rashford at the far post.

The England international simply tapped the ball in and gave United all three points.

It was a controversial decision, as replays appeared to suggest that Cavani might have been offside in the build-up, but VAR did not overturn the goal.

Heartbreaking.
