Up to two-thousand fans will pack out Cliffs Pavilion in Southend-on-Sea this evening to watch the FA cup winning team of 1980.

Many West Ham fans describe their greatest memory on Saturday 10th May 1980 as the most famous date in the club’s history. It was on this day that The Hammers, who were then in the Second Division, defeated Arsenal in the FA Cup Final at Wembley Stadium. On a hot afternoon, a rare Trevor Brooking header was enough for John Lyall’s underdogs to see off The Gunners who had started the match as hot favourites. For the second time in his outstanding career, Billy Bonds led his victorious team up the Wembley steps and lifted the trophy high above his head as the jubilant fans began celebrations which lasted long into the night.

Tonight is a unique occasion as it will be the first time the squad have appeared together on a theatre stage to re-live that triumphant cup campaign. The evening which starts at 8 pm is hosted by Tony Gale.
