Hammers hold trumps on Declan deal

West Ham’s  insistence on adding one or two year option to player contracts could serve the club very well indeed in the case of Declan Rice.

It means, as revealed by the Mail (above), that he will effectively have three years left on his deal at the end of the season given the club plenty of time to keep his price at well above £100 million whilst retaining his services in the meantime.

And it means that should the club decide to wait another season before  considering a sale they are in a position to do so courtesy of the option!

The player has still to commit to a new deal but the Hammers have made it clear to ClaretandHugh they intend to offer him a history-making deal in the summer despite there still not having been any offers made for the player.

Thus far all offers have been rejected but with Daniel Kretinsky money available the means may now be available although Declan’s desire to win major trophies will probably remain the biggest factor.
