West Ham have inched closer to a deal for Kelechi Iheanacho by accepting Manchester City’s requirement for a buyback clause to be agreed.

The problem establishing his legal representation along with the buy back clause are the two major issues facing the Irons as they bid to bring the exciting striker to the east end.

The legal scenario is set to take up to a month to settle but ClaretandHugh can reveal tonight the club has accepted that a buyback clause will be involved.

And our senior source has admitted that “we can live that” whilst accepting that the other situation is one that the Irons can do absolutely nothing about.

Iheanacho is also reportedly being hunted by Leicester City – confirming early summer reports from Slaven Bilic that “we are all chasing the same targets.

But we also understand the Irons are preparing a record breaking offer as they bid to land a player who remains a highly rated operator at his own club.
