West Ham have upped their bottom line scenario from top 10 to top seven as the new season approaches.

Manuel Pellegrini and Mario Husillos are currently in pursuit of the reinforcements which would ensure the Irons push onwards and into the European qualifying places.

The top ten was the “absolute bottom line” in the manager’s first season but nothing short of a top seven position will be sufficient this time around.

Injuries and bad decisions are all well and good but there can be no excuses this time and the manager is focused entirely on the job at hand for the 2019/20 season.

We were told by a top insider on the ‘phone: “We were looking for  stability to be the main aim last season and that was achieved despite plenty of issues which have been well documented.

“The absolute bottom line was a top ten position but this time it’s top seven or bust. The club is progressing and to be involved in Europe is the concrete signal of that.

“That is entirely the agenda for the new season along with the better and beter football we have been were seeing.”
