The Hammers new recruitment chief Rob Newman is well on the case looking for January arrivals as manager David Moyes’ new plans in that area swing into action.

As a result we should perhaps not be too keen to take European media reports of so called targets on board too quickly particularly as so many have proved false in the past.

The Hammers get linked with more players than most as agents drop words to their favourite media in a bid to sort out new clubs or their clients.

A decent striker of course remains the priority but finding someone prepared to become back up to Mikey Antonio is the Moyes one-up system is a problem for most of them,

The latest name being mentioned is Espanyol’s 27 year old Raul de Tomas who Fichajes.net, claim would cost the Irons around £27 million

De Tomas spent a large part of his youth career at Real Madrid. He progressed from the club’s youth academy but never featured for the first team.

He managed 36b goals whilst on loan whilst at Rayo Vallecano before moving to another lack lustre to Benfica and later Espanyol where he has managed 23 goals in 38 games last season. He has started the present campaign strongly with three goals to his name already.
