However, he has now made 23 appearances in all and his two recent goals may well be helping comfortably placed Fiorentina to make up their minds about him as the season draws to an end. He is likely to be carrying a £10 million price tag and should the Italians come up with the asking price that, plus a possible £8 million for Jordan Hugill at Middlesbrough, would come in very handy as the Hammers go into their own transfer activity. There will be those calling for Fernandes to remain at the Hammers on the back of his recent form but the Hammers boss has got little wrong in his first season when judging players and should the midfielder complete the Fiorentina deal we are probably better off accepting Pellegrini’s judgement who may believe the player is suited to a slower form of the game.
