Hammers loanee hitting top form

Edmilson Fernandes is presenting Fiorentina with reasons to make his move to Serie A permanent in the summer.

They are believed to hold an option to buy the midfielder and scored in the 4-1 win over Spal yesterday which was his second in three games.

The Hammers loanee also notched in the game against Udeinese earlier in the month and is making up for lost time after an indifferent start to life in Italy.

Manuel Pellegrini considered the Swiss international surplus to requirements when arriving at the club and allowed him out on loan with -it is believed – an option to buy attached.

We are currently checking that out but the player is likely to have been under regular review by Hammers scouts over the course of the season should a decision need to be made on his future.

He joined the Hammers under Slaven Bilic for £5.5 million but never really settled into the first team squad under him or David Moyes.

ClaretandHugh says: Edmilson Fernandes may well be sealing his own future although he certainly suffered a spell of indifferent form on his arrival in Serie A. However, he has now made 23 appearances in all and his two recent goals may well  be helping comfortably placed Fiorentina to make up their minds about him as the season draws to an end. He is likely to be carrying a £10 million price tag and should the Italians come up with the asking price that, plus a possible £8 million for Jordan Hugill at Middlesbrough, would come in very handy as the Hammers go into their own transfer activity. There will be those calling for Fernandes to remain at the Hammers on the back of his recent form but the Hammers boss has got little wrong in his first season when judging players and should the midfielder complete the Fiorentina deal we are probably better off accepting Pellegrini’s judgement who may believe the player is suited to a slower form of the game.
