Hammers look at striker whose “record speaks for itself”

With the transfer window drawing closer we are heading into overkill time with numerous targets being named as “realistic” prospects for the Irons.

Probably the most pressing is the position upfront despite the return of Michail Antonio due later this month which makes Olivier Giroud the most likely of the various names mentioned.

The Chelsea front man has something to offer and word is that he could be offered a similar deal to that eventually accepted by Samir Nasi -a January loan with a one year permanent deal offered at the end of the season dependent on performances.

The Frenchman has made four Premier League appearances this seasons and his European Championship appearances have proved fruitful with three goals and another in the European Super Cup.

The Hammers are interested and the 34 year old revealing that he could be open for a move in January as manager Frank Lampard bloods more and more youngsters at Stamford Bridge.

With Giroud on board and Haller, Antonio and Ajeti available, the Hammers would be much better placed and a well placed source refused to deny interest.
