Hammers may swoop as stopper eyes January options

Burnley keeper Tom Heaton has made it clear he is keeping his options open this winter at Turf Moor and that must be of interest to the Irons.

The 32 year old – who ironically is being kept out of the first team by Irons flop of last season Joe Hart – has regularly been linked with the Hammers.

He also has the added pressure of fighting with Nick Pope for the No 1 spot since last season after returning from a near year long injury but there is even more competition now since the arrival of Joe Hart  – three former England keepers fighting for a single spot.

There has to be a doubt he would want to swap his current wilderness experience for the Irons No 2 job but he looks  a more than ideal replacement for Adrian who now seems to be a cert to leave the club.

Heaton said: ‘Joe (Hart) was thrown in against Istanbul Basaksehir in the Europa League. The manager then kept him in for the weekend for the first Premier League game of the season at Southampton, which was frustrating for me.

‘I can’t lie. That was tough. Obviously, I knew Joe well and have great respect for him, but, to be perfectly honest, I was expecting to play. It doesn’t need a rocket scientist to see that it’s going to be difficult to fit us all [Pope and Hart] in.

‘Come the January transfer window, I’ve got to keep my options open. The one thing I’ve been consistent about in my career is moving clubs in order to play games.’

Are you listening Mr Pellegrini 🙂
