Hammers not pushing for points deduction

West Ham were wrongly claimed to be one of three Premier League clubs that are pushing for a points deduction for the greedy six who tried to break away to form a European Super League.

A report in the Daily Mail published last night at first claimed Everton, Newcastle and West Ham are leading the push for the Big Six to be punished by the Premier League. The story has been hastily re-written dropping the Hammers from that list completely.

Both remaining clubs are said to be lobbying for points deductions on the grounds that fining a club owned by a billionaire would be an empty gesture, there is an acceptance among the other clubs that such a sanction is not practical as it would lead to a lengthy legal battle.

The Premier League Board are considering their options and are under pressure to get the matter resolved before the clubs’ end-of-season shareholders’ meeting next month.  Claret and Hugh understand West Ham are not pushing for a points deduction and never have.
