Talks between West Ham and Simone Zaza are going well as the Irons look to revise the striker’s loan deal with the club.

ClaretandHugh reported exclusively last night the Hammers are aiming to have the 14 game appearance clause removed so they can keep the Italian international until the end of the season after paying a £5 million loan fee to Juventus.

And a top Hammers insider told us this evening: “Things are going quite well and we are hopeful that a deal will get done that’s in everybody’s best interests.

It’s well known this was a very tough deal to put together but given the way things have worked out we believe there’s a willingness to make it work by getting rid of the appearances clause.

“We have had a number of talks and hopefully are now heading for an early solution to the problem.”

Meanwhile, Zaza’s appearances could be limited anyway over the next few weeks with Diafra Sakho back and Andy Carroll now ready for action.

That assumes of course that neither break down but they are the manager’s preferred striking options.
