Hammers on hunt to fill problem position

Sam Byram …growing up

West Ham are already on the hunt for a Premier League proven right back ahead of the summer.

Byram  is not seen as the solution and that he remained on the bench yesterday against Watford after the early mistake by Cheik Kouyate that led to Watford’s penalty showed that clearly.

Byram is now seen very much in terms of a back up defender and the club is currently scouring Europe for the defender who can fill their problem position.

The Hammers have been without a permanent right back  since the days of Guy Demel and Byram – despite suffering injuries – has not fulfilled the potential the club saw in him when he was scouted at Leeds and eventually brought to the club at a £3.8 million fee.

ClaretandHugh was told this evening (Sun): We are already looking at various targets – a quality right back is very much a priority along with a striker this summer.

“Sam will get his chances  but we need a proven Premier League player or one from abroad who can operate immediately at that level.”
