West Ham’s board have made it clear that David Moyes will be given plenty of time to turn things around at the club bu have placed a proviso on the timetable.

They are reluctant to fire a man who has spent nearly £200 million in the summer transfer market and insist that he has to have time make his signings work.

Should that not happen then he – like all other managers – will come under pressure but that seems to be a way off at this time.

Given the summer spend it is unlikely. however. that the club will be able of reluctant to do anything other than bring in loan signings in January when there are contract issues to be sorted – notably over Ben Johnson.

A key Hammers source made the position clear on Moyes in giving him something more than a vote of confidence declaring: “He is 100 per cent safe at this time. He made these new signing and will be given the chance to make them work.”
