West Ham’s interest in moving for Jonny Evans is growing daily as West Brom head for what looks an inevitable relegation.

David Moyes has had the highly rated former Manchester United central defender on his list of targets for several months once the Hammers are free of any lingering relegation worries.

And Evans – with just a year left on his contract – will not want Championship football and could be available at around £18 million unless – as rumoured – there is a relegation clause included in his contract which could make it a lot cheaper.

There was interest in the January window from a  number of clubs but the player chose to remain at the Hawthorns and try to help the Baggies through their desperate relegation battle.

At 30 there will be little sell on value in the player but the Northern Ireland international is likely to want a four year deal.

ClaretandHugh was told there is definite interest from Moyes with a source adding: “But that at this stage the big issue is ensuring our own Premier League status.”
