Conflicting reports are emerging surrounding the future of Sevilla striker Youssef En-Nesyri. The ‘will he/won’t he’ saga seems to change daily with Talk Sport now reporting that West Ham will press ahead with a bid.

It’s believed that the Hammers are keen to bring in Nayef Aguerd’s Moroccan teammate on a six-month loan deal with the option to buy him for between £20-£25 million at the end of season.

However, En-Nesryi has been less than enthused at the prospect of leaving the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán Stadium. Not for the first time the star striker has said he just wants to focus on ‘helping Sevilla out at the moment’.

The striker went on to say. “Right now, I want to focus on Sevilla. It’s not about money, it’s a sporting matter, wanting to help the team in the worst moments.”

Personally I appreciate those sentiments. Taking my West Ham hat off for a second it’s easy to admire a player who’s committed to his club irrespective of league position. However it’s imperative that West Ham don’t continue to chase players who have little interest in joining our club.

Too much time was spent on the futile pursuit of Jesse Lingard and lessons have to be learnt. En-Nesryi has unequivocally stated his position and it’s time to move on.
