Hammer Martin Samuelsen has returned home by joining Norwegian Eliteserien club FK Haugesund on loan until 30 June 2019. The 21-year-old had been on loan at Dutch Eredivisie side VVV-Venlo, but has now gone back to his birth town where he grew up in search of more regular game time.

Samuelsen played 12 times for Venlo in all competitions, scoring two goals in the Dutch Cup, and has also been on loan at Peterborough United, Blackburn Rovers and Burton Albion in recent seasons. Capped three times by Norway, scoring once, the young Hammers loanee will join up with Haugesund for pre-season training before kicking-off the 2019 campaign at Stromsgodset on Sunday 31 March.

“I play for FK Haugesund at least until the summer and it may well be that I stay longer if this works for all parties” said Samuelsen to local newspaper Haugesunds Avis .

“I’m in very, very good shape. Yes, I might be in the shape of my life. We’ll see, I need to play football. I saw that there would probably be little playing time in Venlo until the end of the season. I wanted FK Haugesund. I know the club and the players, I know the city – and I know Jostein Grindhaug and what he stands for. Now I am very happy that it went well and I look forward to playing at Haugesund stadium”
