Hammers reveal new Sakho twist

None of the board were available to speak with Sakho at the LS today.

Stories arriving out of Sky Sports News this evening that Diafra Sakho turned up at the London Stadium to discuss personal issues have been denied by West Ham.

In fact the striker had rung the club and been told that none of the directors were able to see him as they were in various parts of the country and abroad and thus unable to speak with him.

That has left the player and his advise Mark McKay in limbo and looking unable to organise the player’s future before 11 pm when the transfer window closes.

Sky had run an earlier story that Sakho was at the stadium – repeated on CandH – wanting to discuss personal problems with club officials but we are told by our own insider it never happened.

Our source told us: “We had a phone call from Sakho during the afternoon and told him that the directors were not at the stadium and therefore unable to speak with him. We expected him to arrive at Rush Green but he has not been at the training ground all day.

“To be honest we were surprised when we saw the story appearing on Sky Sports News although it may be they are preparing to run an update on the situation later

“It seems that unless somebody makes contact with Sakho there can be no solution to the situation today which will mean of course he remains with us at least until the next window.”

David Sullivan is out of the country and both Karren Brady and David Gold were involved in business elsewhere as Deadline Day pressed on towards its close.
