Hammers reveal their Sevilla centre back position

West Ham are not the London club that’s made an offer for Sevilla centre-back Diego Carlos.

The Athletic has reported that there has been a bid from a London club to sign the defender in this transfer window, as they look to battle Newcastle for his signature.

But we have had it confirmed by a top club insider that the Hammers are not the club involved in this deal.

It leaves either Spurs or Chelsea as the club to have made the offer, with Arsenal ruled out by the initial report.

Carlos has been the subject of a chase from the Magpies throughout the window but they appear no closer to securing his signature.

He would likely cost over £30m and that kind of deal is just too rich for the Hammers’ blood in the January transfer window.

Moyes remans keen to do a deal for a new defender in this transfer window but there aren’t any advanced negotiations going on with any centre-backs at this point.
